Sorry for not updating you, blogger. I've been blogging here.

It's been four days since I started here at the new office. Everything is radically different from my previous setup, and I'm still trying to get used to it.

I don't bring big red anymore because they charge an arm and a leg for parking in Makati, plus my fuel bill will drive me to the poorhouse. Working hours are unpredictable (more on this later). Food in the building's cafeteria, like parking, costs an arm and a leg. There are no less than three banks on the ground floor. There's a Fitness First gym in a nearby building, but I've yet to get my stride in fitting a workout into my new schedule. AND Whereas I used to work in a person-width cubicle in an uncomfortably warm second floor room with no view, I now work in a person-width computer desk in a cool tenth-floor room with an awesome view of Ayala avenue.

Endnote: Yesterday was the last day of Wilf's wake. Raimund was right when he said that seeing Wilf in the coffin would bring closure. But then I think that image only served to drive home the fact that he is indeed gone. I can only imagine how his family and close friends are able (or not) to fathom that loss. As with the changes in my own life, I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around it.

Requiem for a Friend

Wolfmann and friends: L-R: Me, Wolfmann, Jason, Ebe

Wilfrid (aka Wolfmann) passed away yesterday after suffering from a massive aneurysm in the wee hours of 20 August, 2005. He was with friends celebrating a common passion: music. I, for one, will regret not having known him more but I am consoled knowing that he lives on in the music he created. Be at peace, my friend.

Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it.

A couple of weeks ago my Karen asked me to forward a friend's SMS calling for IT professionals' résumés, you know the sort. I think I was busy at the time I had received the message so I kind of ignored it, making a mental note to attend to it later. Fast forward to last week, I was cleaning out my phone's inbox when I came across the message again. On a whim I sent my own CV just to see if the company would go for it.

The long and short of it is that I have a new job, and will be rid of my current job in two weeks' time. I promised myself that I would quit this job this year if I wasn't made permanent. Anyway, the Man didn't put up a fight when I said I'd been offered a new job. To think that I was telling a coworker that I missed the culture at one of my previous jobs: young, vibrant, progressive, devoid of bureaucratic stumbling blocks. Well, the new job, I think, will be somewhat like that.

This is my first major job change in two years, and the routine has made me comfortable. I'm scared of the impending change, but I welcome it.

- I've just finished the new Harry Potter book. I still think Goblet is the best in the series. Oh, and thanks to everyone who spoiled the ending for me.
- Saw Trainspotting for the very first time, after I splurged on a couple of dibidis. Very entertaining.
- Speaking of DVDs, the Star Wars original trilogy box set is in the queue as well. Need a lot of time for that.
